Joanie was 19 and she had come to the big city for the first time. She had hopes of becoming a big star and of making enough money to help her parents pay off their home in Alaska and maybe even come visit her in Los Angeles once in a while. She wanted to feel their pride and was willing to do whatever she had to do to get it. She found a small apartment paid her first months rent and set off in search of a job.

Soon Joanie found out that it was much more fun to enjoy the city than to have to work. She started attending speed dating events and began dating as many guys as she could. This was a good way to get a free meal and soon she also began drinking. Most of the guys she was dating were over 21 and so inevitably shewould find herself drunk in clubs with guys that were caressing her one way or another. Sometimes she didn't even remember who the guys were, and it would make her feel very scared.

When her parents wrote and asked how she was doing Joanie would never mention the dating or drinking. She told them that she was working and that she had found an acting coach. She didn't want them toworry and would invent stories to make them feel better. That night though she would be at a club doing the same thing.

One night Joanie took a guy home who had been really nice to her at the club. She didn't want to go home alone so she took the chance the he was not a pervert and invited him in. Soon he was kissing and caressing her in all the wrong places. Joanie got very scared but the more she cried out and said no the more he would get excited. The caressing turned to groping and eventually he raped and left her beaten in her own apartment.

The next day Joanie was on a bus back to Alaska. Beaten and defeated she realized that she would never be able to make it away from her family. Not only had she lost her self respect but she had lost her virginity to some unknown monster. She knew she would never return to Los Angeles and bid it goodbye.
