"What's internet dating mum?"Asked 6 year old Darcey. Her Mother looked abit taken aback at the question. "Erm, its websites that people meet other people on". "Why do they meet people on there instead of at the park?" Her Mother sighed and realised she really didn't want to have to answer questions about this. "Because lots of them live far away from each other sweet heart". She watched her daughter draw breath to ask another question. She quickly interrupted and asked a question of her own. "Who told you about internet dating honey?". "Jack at school" came the reply "He said its where people go if they can't get sex at home.........whats sex mummy?". Her Mother blinked at her and racked her brains for a suitable answer that wouldn't prompt more questions. "Erm..." she began "Sex is what people do when they love each other very much. Some people don't have someone that they love very much in real life, so they go onto an internet dating site to find someone to love". Darcey's face screwed up as she was about to ask another question, but her Mother interrupted again by suggesting that it was bedtime now. Darcey agreed, as long as she got a bedtime story. As her Mother stroked her daughters soft cheek in bed, she asked her what she wanted a bedtime story about. "I want a bedtime story about internet dating" came the reply. "I want to know all about the people that love each other very much - are there any princesses on there? They love princes very much!". Her Mother hesitated. "Why don't we read a story about Princes and Princesses instead" she suggested. Darcey looked like she was about to argue until her Mother produced her favourite book about a fairy princess. She settled down under the covers and listened to her mum reading the book. When she was asleep, her mum went downstairs and had an urgent talk with her father. "We need to have a word with Darcey's school teacher" said her Father when he had been told what had happened. "And this Jack's Mother!" added Darcey's mum.
