Charline was a country girl who had grown up dreaming of city life, runways, and movie premiers. Her step-father had raised her, never failing downplay her looks with a cruel remark day after day. When Charline reached the age of 18, she stole out of the house one night and caught a bus to the city. She had saved up just enough money to last her several weeks of living in the city. Upon reaching the city she quickly found a place to stay that was within her budget, and went out in search of a new wardrobe and the events going on while she was there.

Out of sheer luck, Charline stumbled upon a fashion week runway show and slipped in, unseen by all those around her. One of the shows directors mistook her for a runway girl and ushered her backstage shushing her protests. Within minutes she was garbed in a gorgeous dress and had makeup artists and hairdressers surrounding her... and then, she was walking down the runway.

Gerald happened to be at the show that night, having allowed his current female companion to drag him there. Bored out of his mind, he suddenly glanced up to see Charline striding down the runway. He was speechless, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Gerald decided he had to have her. Turning to his girlfriend he coldly told her to move off and forget she had ever dated him. Standing up, he moved quickly away from the shocked girl and headed backstage to find out who this mysterious woman was.

Charline had done it, she stepped off the runway and managed to escape the tumult of backstage, but ran straight into Gerald. Startled she muttered an apology and began to move quickly away, but he had already grabbed her arm. Affronted, Charline tried desperately to pull out of his grasp, but he held on firmly and stared with a bewildered look at her face.

Dating women was something that came easily for Gerald, but not in this case... he couldn't manage to find a single word to say to her, and she was fighting with all her might to get away. This was going to be interesting. Gerald finally managed to whisper an apology and let her arm go. Charline spun around and disappeared through the crowd, unknowingly being followed by Gerald. Within moments they were both out in the cool air, Charline glanced around and then promptly began walking in the direction she thought her hotel lay.
